What is Scientology?

The book "What is Scientology?" is a very good book to give a friend who wants to know about the Scientology religion. It has lots of facts and figures.

On the other hand if you want to try your hand at applying scientology technology and you've heard how it works and would like some help, I recommend the Scientology Handbook. It is really quite excellent

LRH Congress Tapes

Last year, David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of RTC, released the new CD recordings of all the LRH Congresses from the late 1950s through the 1960s.

A few months atgo I finished listening to all of them. I can't tell you how much I got out of them!

Scientology Effective Solutions

There is a series of booklets that give full details of many different aspects of the Scientology religion. They cover everything from information about the founder L. Ron Hubbard, what Scientologists are doing around the world to handle the issues society is faced with such as drugs and human rights abuses and tools for everyday living.

These booklets can be found on the Scientology religion website.

Summer's Nearly Over

I remember as a child I that the summer used to last forever. But come the last week of August with school staring me in the face my enthusiasm would start to wear thin and would be replaced by a touch of anxiety which got stronger as the new school year approached.

It was only when I started to study Scientology that I realized that these emotional reactions to school were caused by an inability to study.

There's a terrific little animated description of study technology, developed by L. Ron Hubbard. Click on the image below and read it. It explains the entire phenomenon I just described.

If you have the same kind of physical and emotional reaction to going back to school, or if you have a kid who does, this could make all the differenc in the world.

Leaving for Florida

A friend of mine left for Florida yesterday for training. Florida is the spiritual headquarters of the Scientology religion and there is a large number of Scientologists living there.

I've been there three times and it is such a great experience.

You meet people you haven't seen for years. As I've traveled a lot as a Scientologist it is always a kick to be there and meet people I know from Europe, England, California, New York - you name it.

International Scientology Disaster Relief Team

Here is another articles about the Scientology Volunteer Ministers and their dedication in helping fellows everywhere in need of help. I was doing something similar when I was 12 years old, just because I wanted to help elderly. There is nothing better than the feeling of having helped and seeing someone doing better.
Here is the article for you to read: http://volunteerministers.org/articles/608132253022.vm

Also, if you have not read about Scientology yet, here is a very informative, uptodate and inspiring speech given by Mr David Miscavige: http://www.rtc.org/en_US/presentations/thisisscientology.html

ARC Triangle

The following is a definition from the Scientology glossary:

ARC triangle: a triangle which is a symbol of the fact that affinity, reality and communication act together as a whole entity and that one of them cannot be considered unless the other two are also taken into account. Without affinity there is no reality or communication. Without reality or some agreement, affinity and communication are absent. Without communication there can be no affinity or reality. It is only necessary to improve one corner of this very valuable triangle in Scientology in order to improve the remaining two corners.

Have you ever sat next to someone on a jet flight and started up a conversation (communication corner) and found out you agreed about many things that are important to you (shared a common reality)? Did you notice that your affinity for the person went from "he/she is a total stranger" to really liking the person enough to exchange cards to keep in touch? Chances are you felt this person understood you as well, didn't you?

That's one example of ARC in action.

Church of Scientology of Buffalo

The Grand Opening of the new Church of Scientology of Buffalo had some great moments, You can read about them all here: Grand Opening of the Church of Scientology Buffalo

The Scientology Chaplain

I don't know how well its known, but there is an important position in Scientology Churches and that is the Chaplain.

Each Sunday, the chaplain conducts services open to anyone who shares the hope of a better and happier future for man. For the person new to Scientology, this is an opportunity to gain an introduction to the religion and to take the first steps toward improving his own spiritual awareness. For the Scientologist, it provides the chance to further his own progress, while gaining new insights into Scientology principles.

The chaplain also performs Scientology weddings, christenings and funerals for parishioners and their family members. Individual churches also regularly host tape plays of L. Ron Hubbard’s lectures, briefings on matters of parishioner concern, and open houses for interested public or members of the local community.

This is an duty that is taken seriously and Scientology Chaplains are very caring and giving people.

Scientology Services

Scientology isn't "just like" any other religion. It is very thoroughly described in the book "What is Scientology?" which is online at www.whatisscientology.org

Knowing How to Know

Did you know that the word Scientology means "Knowing how to know"?

It is closest to the subject of epistemology except that it has a very spiritual orientation. I think the most basic concept in Scientology is the concept that you don't HAVE a soul -- you ARE a soul. You are a spiritual being living in a body and using a mind to solve the problems you encounter in life.

Self-Confidence

Do you have confidence in your own decisions? L. Ron Hubbard said:
Self-confidence is nothing more than belief in one's ability to decide and in one's decisions.
Many tools exist in Scientology to increase you ability to decide and to make decisions you can have confidence in. An excellent start is to take the "How To Improve Conditions in Life" course.

Health, Ability and Responsibility

Here's an interesting quote from L. Ron Hubbard that one should think about:
There is a direct ratio between the health and ability of the person and his willingness to accept responsibility.
Just take a good look at that and see if you can recall times when it applied to you, times when you avoided responsibility and the consequences, times when you took responsibility and the consequences. What did you notice?

Scientology Disaster Relief Team at the Canden Trauma Center in Java

This is a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers who have spent weeks in Yogyakarta, living under the same conditions of privation as the local residents, 1.5 million of whom were left homeless by the May 2006 Java earthquake.

Here they are in front of their trauma center in the town of Canden.

Look at their morale. What a testament to the help Scientology technology provides.
