This week on the Scientology Blogosphere
- Get a Better ROI on Life - Desi tells us how Scientology Auditing is helping her to handle things that have been problems for many years. "It's practical magic. It works easily and well and better than anything else for the same reason that aqueducts worked better than hollow logs - better technology means better results. I use it for the same reason we use computers and not an abacus - once you figure out the science behind better tools, you're never going back to the old way to do things. In my book, Scientology is better tools for living based on better and more organized data."
- It takes smarts to think for yourself - Mickey is an Italian teenager who does not live a cloistered life. She lives in the U.S. and spends summers in Italy. Her world is filled with activity and friends- many of them Scientologists, many of them not. Lets hear her viewpoints.
- What we don't believe - It is quite amazing the weird ideas people get about what Scientologists do and don't believe. Here are a some I've encountered.
- Interview With Actress Cassandra Hepburn - The lovely and talented actress and Scientologist Cassandra Hepburn has a new movie coming out.
- Young Scientologists; Old Scientologists - In case you hadn’t guessed it, Scientologists are young and old, babies and grandfathers. There are first generation Scientologists, second generation Scientologists, third generation Scientologists and even fourth generation Scientologists. Some Scientologists are fat, some are thin. Some are tall, some are small. Some are European, some are Malaysian. There are Scientologists in Alaska and there are Scientologists in New Zealand and South Africa and elsewhere. Scientologists are here and they are there. They can be anywhere. You work with them, you see them, you listen to their music, you watch them in movies, you read their books, you go to school with them, you see their art, you play with them, you learn from them, you walk past them on the street … and so the world continues to turn.
- Antidepressants and Antipsychotics being Prescribed for Treatment without Scientific Proof of Chemical Imbalance - Psychiatrists have yet to conclusively prove that a single mental illness has a biological or physical cause, or a genetic origin. Psychiatry has yet to develop a single physical test that can determine that an individual actually has a particular mental illness. Indeed, The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders uses behavior, not physical symptoms, to diagnose mental illness, and it lacks both scientific reliability and validity.
- European Scientology Volunteer Ministers Behind the Scenes at the EU Cup - Although more than a million fans converged on Austria for the EU Cup last month the entire event came off without incident. Behind the scenes of this and every huge international sports event are the men and women who see to the safety of those attending and handle any emergencies that arise—emergencies that could easily become catastrophes if not cared for quickly and competently.
- Free Schools Using Study Technology of L. Ron Hubbard Give Hope to Kolkata Children - Bibha Kumari, Sohan Das, Pintu Das and Mukesh Paswan are excellent students. In fact, they are the best students at their school. But four years ago not only had they never seen the inside of a schoolroom but they never dreamed they would be able to do so. Now they have the opportunity to get real education and to truly transform their lives.

David Miscavige Briefing at Maiden Voyage
As usual it was a total treat seeing David Miscavige at the podium. What in incredible speaker. And he certainly has a way of presenting the news that keeps you riveted to every word he says.
I was so excited to see the new ideal org buildings.
And I, for one, am winning so much on studying the Basic Scientology Books and Lectures that it was a treat seeing the success stories of other people who are winning too.
I love the events David Miscavige emcees. I'm sure the rest of the summer of events will be incredible too.

Dianetics Videos
It's really heartening to hear the kinds of wins and life changing experiences people have from reading the Dianetics book and getting Dianetics counseling. L. Ron Hubbard was such a genius, and SO ahead of his time!
And I'm really having tremendous wins myself studying these books. I am so greatful that David Miscavige had all this work done that makes these books so much easier to read and understand!

Blogging for Human Rights - Today is the day!
How important are human rights? Well, without them you can be imprisoned without trial, you can have your property taken away, you can be enslaved, you can be discriminated against because of your race or beliefs, you can be tried in a secret court, you can have your letters opened and your phone tapped without due process, you can be arrested for expressing your opinion, you can be tortured and more.
Why should you learn about human rights? It is vital to know what your rights are, otherwise they will be taken away from you and all the abuses of the centuries, abuses that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was written to stop, will come about again.
Where can I learn about my human rights?

Dianetics Videos Online
It makes so much sense to have a Dianetics video channel because Dianetics is, itself, a best-seller, and not everyone associates Dianetics with Scientology at first.

Volunteers Needed in Myanmar
----------- The Message ----------
On Sunday, Cyclone Nargis hit the nation of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma, a country between India and China) and killed in excess of 25,000 people so far. The original report from the military government of Myanmar was a death toll in the hundreds, but there was a belated admission that the cyclone had killed at least 30 times this figure - with 10,000 perished in just one city, and an estimated total of over 100,000 casualties. The devastation of the area has left several hundred thousand people without shelter and clean water.
The people of this area need our help urgently. A whole team of Volunteer Ministers need to go to Myanmar to start bringing order and delivering the miracles of Volunteer Minister technology.
We cannot just stand back and watch. The situation requires decisive action NOW. We need responsible Volunteer Ministers to bring hope to these people.
SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT!
“A volunteer minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well.” — L. Ron Hubbard
At least 250 people are needed in Myanmar on an immediate basis. Please contact the Disaster Response Director at the International VM Office at 1-323-960-1949 or via e-mail. You can also contact Sei Broadhurst or Donovan Reed at the Continental VM Office in Australia at 011-612-9264-7955.
If you are not already trained as a Volunteer Minister, we will train you on the ground, or you can learn how to help on one of our on-line training courses, available for no charge on the Volunteer Ministers website.
If you cannot go but still want to help, you can make a donation to directly fund these disaster relief activities and contribute in that way in ensuring others can go.
Please send this to everyone you know!
Best,
Stephanie Rinder

Scientology Channel on YouTube
There's a lot of trash, nonesense, and hate.
But I'm totally thrilled there's now a Scientology channel on YouTube. And I love the quality of the videos and the selection. There is about 3 hours-worth of clips.
I have a lot of friends who ask me what Scientology is. It's hard to describe something as rich and encompassing as Scientology. It's so much easier to show it. And that's exactly what I can do now, with this channel.
So if you are here because you're interested in finding out what a Scientologist has to say about Scientology, here's what I say. Take the time to watch the full selection of clips about Scientology on the YouTube Church of Scientology channel. It takes a bit of time, but you can really get a feel for our religion, what we're like, what we do, what we believe. And that's really what you need, to answer that question.

Wow! What Wins
Org - short for "Organization" which means a Scientology Church
Cognition - A realization about life
Postulate - a conclusion, decision or resolution made by the individual himself to resolve a problem or to set a pattern for the future or to nullify a pattern of the past. For example, a person says, “I like Model T Fords. I am never going to drive another car.” Years later, no longer consciously aware of this postulate, he will wonder why he is having so much trouble with his Buick; it’s because he has made an earlier promise to himself. In order to change he has to change that postulate.
Grade 4 - A Scientology Auditing level that helps a person move out of fixed conditions.

How to Achieve Your Dreams
The answer lies in Targets and Goals. You could write out a simple list of targets to achieve your goal and in some cases this will be enough, but what do you do to predict possible problems and plan to overcome them? What if your plan conflicts with other your goals?
The Scientology Handbook contains an entire chapter on Targets and Goals. The chapter answers the questions asked here and a lot more besides. You can read some of the articles from the chapter here at Planning for the Future.
One of the coolest things I found in the Scientology Handbook is the "Administrative Scale". The name sounds kinda dry, but the concept described is mind boggling! This little puppy is the tool you need to get your life, your business or whatever under control and to get every part of it going in the same direction. Can you imagine what it would be like if you knew that everything you did was headed towards achieving your goals? Well, the Administrative Scale (Admin Scale to his friends :) ) is the way to go!
Have fun with your planning and success in achieving your dreams!

Drug-Free Marshals 1st Up at Spring Training Baseball Game
The Drug Free Marshals is a program to help kids stay off drugs. The idea is to use peer pressure to keep kids off drugs rather than the usual scenario of the peer pressure persuading them to take drugs. The program has been running since 1993 when it was created by the Church of Scientology. In the 15 years since it has signed up 4 million Marshals.
The program was recently featured at a Spring Training Baseball Game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies.

From Dianetics
All factors necessary to the resolution of a science of the mind were found within the finite universe and were discovered, sensed, measured and experienced, and became scientific truth. The finite universe contains Time, Space, Energy and Life. No other factors were found necessary in the equation. - L. Ron HubbardThat really makes clear the down-to-earth foundations that underlie the technology of Dianetics and Scientology. To use them and to see them work requires only accurate application and then a pair of eyes to view the results.

Scientology – What Got Me Interested
There were several things that got me interested in Scientology, but one of the main ones was that no one shoved their ideas down my throat. I really liked that because from Sunday School to University, it seemed I was supposed to just believe what I was told. What the Bible said was true! What the physics book said was true! I found that no one was very interested in my opinion or in my deciding for myself if what was being said were true or not.
So on the first day of my communications course I read something I didn't believe and I said to the course supervisor, "I can't believe this!" and he said, "That's okay. Make sure you understand it, then apply it and see for yourself if it is true or not." That was a surprise. It was the first time anyone had ever said that to me. That impressed me and in the 30 years since, I have continued to be impressed by the fact that I hear that same sentence again and again.
Recently I was studying the book, "Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought" and I came across this from L. Ron Hubbard:
In Scientology we have very little to do with forcing people to make conclusions. An individual can experience these things [Scientology beliefs] for himself. And unless he can do so, no one expects him to accept them.
That's how we operate in Scientology!

Scientology Video Site
Scientology.org has just been transformed into a multi-language video channel with hours of videos about every aspect of the Scientology religion.
These video clips are anywhere from 30 seconds to 6 or 8 minutes long and all together they present such a clear picture of the Scientology religion.
So far, my favorite is the clip of Scientologists talking about Scientology (it's under the section on Beliefs and Practices).
I am thrilled to have something so clear and comprehensive I can send anyone to, to find out about Scientology!

The Discoveries of Dianetics, by L. Ron Hubbard
Here is a quote from the article:
Accumulated physical pain and loss brings about a reduction of consciousness, a reduction of physical health and a reduction of the will to live to a point where the organism actively, if often slyly, seeks death.
Erase or nullify the physical pain, the losses of a lifetime, and vitality returns.
The vitality of living, of seeking higher levels of survival, is life itself.

What is Scientology?
The idea that Scientology is an "applied religious philosophy" is sometimes hard for people in the western world to grasp, because the dominant religions in the west are based on belief rather than practical application that leads to a specific result. (Not that there is anything wrong with belief.)
Scientology is a "practical" religion. The knowledge it contains is for use in everyday life. Probably the best place to see this is in the Scientology Handbook, which contains a ton of practical methods that are easy to understand and use. Check it out.

He further stressed that the DDB is sincerely grateful for his contributions in the fields of drug education and rehabilitation, and for being someone who did not stop at being mere anti-drug advocate but instead came up with a concrete technology to counter the ill effects of drugs. You can read the entire story here: DDB awards Scientology founder, anti-drug crusader

What is the Sea Organization?
The Sea Organization is a religious order within the Scientology religion. A religious order is a subdivision of a larger religious group. In Christianity religious orders often take special vows, such as for poverty and obedience. This is not the case in the Sea Org. The only "vow" as such is a lifelong commitment to work in the service of the Scientology religion and its goals.
