Scientology Basics: The Factors

Between 1923 and 1953, L. Ron Hubbard did a tremendous amount of research into the spiritual nature of man. In 1953 he published a summation of this examination, which he called "The Scientology Factors". At first glance one may feel they only apply to perhaps the creation of the universe or something equally rarefied, but on closer examination you can see how they can apply to everyday things such as buying a car. For example, taking a look at Factor 1: Before the beginning was a Cause and the entire purpose of the Cause was the creation of effect. Before going to buy a car (before the beginning) one should figure out what effects he intends to create with the car. Do you want to impress your peers or do you want to protect the environment? Working this out before the beginning means that you know your goal and can then be successful in achieving it. Without applying Factor 1 you could end up buying a lemon.
