What is Greatness?

This is one of my favorite articles by L. Ron Hubbard and it has been put into a video. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Very nice video.

That is probably my favorite LRH quote. Though I often fall flat trying to follow it.

Hello Geordie / Jenny / Grahame!

I'll be honest from the outset, I'm here doing a bit of shameless advertising, but it is with a very sincere motive.

I am part of a group of former bloggers who now post on a forum called SMRT (Skeptical Minds & Rational Thinkers) with the intent of discussing different world religions/philosophies and trying to understand a bit more about people and what they believe. We are atheists, theists, deists and more and we welcome anyone with an opinion and respectful manner.

We recently realized that we were spending an unfair amount of time discussing Christianity and other religions were not getting a fair hearing.

We have already made an effort to invite a Mormon perspective and hope to branch out and include as many different viewpoints as possible.

So! I would like to invite one or all of you to come and lend your voices to our discussions and perhaps dispel some preconceptions or media-generated stereotypes that people may have about the Church of Scientology.

We are, for the most part, all honest and interested individuals and would welcome your input to any and all of our discussions.

Thank you for your time, the website is below and I've set up a topic in the forum to ease you into things if you decide to make an appearance. If not, that's cool too!

Kind Regards,

Matt

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the invite. I'm not sure I'll have time to join in your forum.

I'm not sure what would be the purpose. Maybe you can enlighten me?

all the best,
Grahame

Grahame,

I must admit, the reasons are fairly selfish! We essentially would like to diversify our little community so we can continue to learn about the world around us and it's many wonderful people.

We enjoy discussing religion, politics and many other topics and always appreciate being corrected when our preconceptions are incorrect and receiving input from different worldviews where unique knowledge is possible.

You must be a aware that Scientology has, at best, a mixed understanding among non-Scientologists and we are humble enough to know that we probably have a number of false assumptions too.

We are certainly not out to convert or judge anyone, we just like chatting to different people from different walks of life.

I appreciate that all this can be very time consuming and totally understand if you decide that it's not something you want to investigate (judging from your avatar picture, you've got much more important things to deal with!).

Just know that if you ever want to wander over and poke your head in the door, we'd be more than happy to have a wee chat. There's no onus on you to become an active member, or to contribute more than you want to.

Thanks for the reply, Grahame.

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks for the clarification.

It's hard to say if I'll have time. As you have probably noticed I've neglected this blog for some time (blush), which is a sign of how busy I am.

Anyway, I'll see what I can do.
